Project Cars: Legendary Collector Cars

All of these cars have been or are currently in our garage for major or minor projects. Not all the work is done by us, much of it goes out to local shops who do top quality work. You will also want to check out our Completed Project Cars page as well as our Friends’ Projects and Smaller Projects page.

Project: 1969 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler; Cale Yarborough

This car is a very rare 1969 Mercury Cyclone Cale Yarborough Spoiler with a 428 CJ Ram Air engine and C-6 automatic. It came to us in a very solid and respectable driver quality condition. We drove and showed this car for several years. As a birthday present to myself I decided to give it the complete restoration it deserved. I complete nut and bolt, rotisserie, driver quality restoration was completed on this beast. Click Here to see the full photo documentation.

1954 GMC Fuel Delivery Truck

This is one of those projects that I just love but it is not a car. I personally believe that we are going to start seeing a lot more old commercial truck showing up at both local and national shows. I found this 1954 GMC Fuel Delivery Tanker and fell in love. It is as far from what I normally like as you can get but I can’t wait to get started on it. Click Here to see more.

1967 Dodge Coronet: Project Frankenstein

I wish I was on the road!

This is our biggest project to date and by far the most ambitious. Why Project Frankenstein? Because it is an old classic muscle car that will take on the appearance of a slightly modified 1967 Dodge RT but will be completely modern Dodge Charger from bumper to bumper! For more details Click Here.

Project Bulls Eye; 1963 Dodge Dart GT

This Project Car was added to the inventory in February 2012 and was to be done in the “High School Hauler” low buck style that we did on our 1967 Mustang “Gloriana” Fastback. However, as we began the Project Bull’s Eye and got it on the road it was quickly sold to enthusiast that liked it just the way it was.

Rat Rod; Barn Find

Project Rat Rod isn’t a Barn Find, it is a Pasture Find! Unfortunately, it never made its way into the Barn! We just got this body home and began to plan out the build. Read this article and tell us what you think. Unfortunately, we never got to build this project. Someone came along that wanted to do it more than we did and bought it from us.

1969 AMX Project Cars

Project 1: Silver AMX

Our first 1969 AMX project car was purchased in the spring of 2009 but was sold in December of 09. We will show you those steps we completed on the the project from going to look at it; bringing it home; first inspection and all the restoration work. We acquired 100% of the sheet metal we needed to repair the rust and completed the installation prior to it being sold.

1969 Mercury Cougar XR7 428 CJ-UPDATED 8-5-2013

1969 Mercury Cougar 428 cj

This is a rare authentic 1969 Mercury Cougar XR 7 428 CJ. This is a C6 automatic car with PS, PB, posi and AIR. This car was sound when we got it but not a show car.  Our first effort was to install a 465HP 428 CJ motor and beefed up C6. We did not feel this was the best use of the car and we have now installed a date code correct 428 CJ. It also received a full repaint, we will clean up the interior, and fix the factory air conditioning.

1967 Mustang Fastback: This Project is now on the Road!

Because of the Gloriana Music Video this project has changed direction once again. I have owned this Stang for nearly 25 years. It was my daily driver for a while and everyone of my kids drove it to high school. Each one of them also left their marks on the body. It is a sound rust free Southern California car. Click Here to see the current status, we have just started the body repair.

Mustang Shelby Clone

This beautiful little 66 Mustang came to us in rough condition but with a lot of authentic Shelby parts. We drove it for a while and then tore it apart and redid it to a much higher quality and had a lot of fun with it before selling it. Click Here to see more on this one. This is one I really miss and I might just Clone this Clone someday.

1969 Ford Talladega UPDATED 09-22-10

Another real 1969 Ford Talladega. This one was actually built just one day before the white one above. This was originally a maroon car. This car was sold to Norway. Click Here.

1968 Mercury Cyclone GT 500

This is a 1968 Mercury Cyclone GT 500 428 CJ. Only 60 GT 500s were ever built and of those only 45 were 428 CJ Ram Air cars. Go to its page and see what I know about it to date and what you might be able to help me with. We are learning more about these rare Cyclone GT 500s almost daily. Thank you for all your help. Click Here.

Our car is in such poor condition I am not sure we will be able to restore it. Its future is still in question. It may get re-bodied, parted out, turned into a race car replica or sold off. Stay tuned.
