Smokey Yunick Hot Vapor Engine in Hot Rod Magazine

If you have been with us since the beginning you know that one of the first Feature Cars we introduced you to was the Smokey Yunick Hot Vapor Fiero and now it is back in Hot Rod Magazine. (You can even see our site listed as one of the “Sources” at the end of the article.) The new Smokey article can be found in the September 2010 issue of Hot Rod on pages 40 and 41.

Our friend Tony Allers is mentioned at length for his role in bringing the Fiero back to life and gaining recognition for Smokey’s genius on this vehicle. We also now know that Ralph Johnson worked closely with Smokey on this invention and was actually the man who brought the original concept to life back in the early 50s.

If you car about engines, fuel mileage, political and big business intrigue you owe it to yourself to pick up this issue of Hot Rod and read the article on Smokey. Then go to our page and read the original Hot Rod article plus all of the new info supplied by Tony and some of our readers.

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys.
