NASCAR Grand National Super Speedway
Bill McDonough, Cedar Rapids, IA.
Daytona history . Not many of these NASCAR Golden Era cars are left.
This Chevelle, built in 1972 using a Holman-Moody roll cage/ chassis/suspension kit, with truck arm rear suspension, on the stock 1968 frame, was prepared for NASCAR Super Speedway racing by Bill McDonough and his crew. McDonough was a dominant Mid-West short track racer with his red white and blue Chevrolet Novas. Bill rewarded his team for there successful seasons by building this Speedway car and taking them to Daytona for Speed week. This period correct, unmolested, never crashed, survivor still retains all of its original parts.
After retirement the Chevelle sat in McDonough’s barn until his death then outside at crewmember John Wolf’s in Ely IA. It was purchased by Dick Spadaro, Albany, NY. and was not touched until my purchase in 1997.
