What do you like to do with your car?

It is still February and it is likely very cold in most parts of the US right now but here in Tennessee last weekend it was very nice. One of our local car clubs hit the road with 56 members. We pulled out our 1969 Mercury Cyclone Spoiler Cale Yarborough Special and put approximately 175 miles on it. We never got on an interstate, mostly traveling back TN roads, up and down hill and through the woods. It was great fun. Our first stop was at a nice little restaurant on the Cumberland River. The cat fish was good but the desert was even better. From there we motored on down to look at a local gentleman’s collection of nearly 150 cars. His collection of signs, parts and other automobilia was just as impressive. It was a fabulous day.

That brings up a series of questions. What is it you like to do with your car?

  1. Car Shows with awards?
  2. Car Shows without judging?
  3. Short drives in the country with your spouse?
  4. Local cruise-in where you sit in your chair and bench race with friends?
  5. Long drives with car club buddies to interesting locations?
  6. Power Tour type events were you are on the road for multiple days?
  7. Drag Race?
  8. Autocross?
  9. Indoor or Concours type shows?
  10. Build it?

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys.
