Art of the Muscle Car, Collectors Edition

A new version of the book, Art of the Muscle Car, has just been released by Motorbooks. Both the original edition and this new version are available on Amazon. The newest version is called Art of the Muscle Car Collector’s Edition although you will not see that name appear on the book anywhere. The two versions are very similar but the new one contains some fold outs and some prints in the back cover pocket suitable for framing. Although the book is beautiful and does contain a very few new photos it remains full of inaccuracies and mistakes. The most glaring being a 1966 El Camino referred to as a 1969; there is no excuse for this in a book of this quality, especially in its second edition.

The errors do not end there. We were honored to have three of our cars in both books. Unfortunately, the descriptions of the Cale Yarborough Spoiler and Dan Gurney Spoiler II remain scrambled from the first edition. Any novice reading this book for details about out care will likely be more confused about what is a Spoiler and what is a Spoiler II than before they read the text.

Still, the photos are worth the price of the book and just read the information contained inside with an open mind and don’t believe everything you read!

I grew up and lived in Iowa for nearly 40 years before moving to Southern California and now live in Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check our our www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com page) As long as it has four wheels on it I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife Katriana is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out with our miniature donkeys.
