Deuce of Spades by Faith Granger

We sometimes do reviews of car books on this site and we are currently reading one we will be telling you about in a couple of weeks but today is all about a very special DVD video we really like. You won’t find this on Netflix or at the neighborhood video store and it was never in theaters but it is one of the best car movies I have ever seen. It is made by and for car people.

Some of the acting is just a step above amateur night but the plot is good and will keep you guessing while predictable at time. This movie was written, stared in and just about everything else by a Hot Rod CAR GAL, Faith Granger. This is not the normal car movie with chases, crashes (although it does have a little of both) with little plot. It is a love story that you and your better half will both enjoy.

Where this DVD shines is in the car stuff. The Deuce of Spades is a beautiful vintage hot rod that sounds like a million bucks. The sound of that car idling down the street is worth the price of the DVD. When it is at speed on the salt lakes of CA the photography is outstanding!

You can see more about this terrific movie/DVD by clicking here and checking out the web site. You need to order your copy on the site the DVD is $22 but well worth it. They also have other merchandise and discounts for multiple orders.

This is the teaser from the back of the DVD case.

“When a hot rod girl finds a mysterious letter dating back to the Fifties hidden in her roadster, she is left with nothing but questions… Who is Johnny Callaway? She sets out to find the answers and uncovers her Deuce’s troubled past. Fast hot rods, rockin’ retro music and gravity defying swing dancing all serve as a colorful backdrop to this heartfelt, inspiring story.”

“A slice of Americana artfully carved right out of the fifties” Louise Noeth-Good Guys Gazette

As if that isn’t enough the real Gene Winfield has a part in the movie! If you don’t know who Gene Winfield is you were not a car guy in the 50s/60s! Look it up.

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys.
