Trevor Bayne and Wood Brothers Win Daytona 500

Ten years ago we lost Dale Earnhardt but today the Wood Brothers were reborn! I don’t care if you are a Chevy fan, MOPAR addict or a Blue Oval nut you have to appreciate what the Wood Brothers have done at Daytona. They are the history of NASCAR; they are not one of the mega multi-car teams; they don’t have the deep pockets and mega sponsors but they have spirit and talent.

How terrific is it to not only see the historic Wood Brothers and the fabulous Ford #21 with Motorcraft on the hood win the 500 but to do it with a rookie? Trevor Bayne seems like a jewel and a new potential Superstar. In his first Cup race at Daytona he showed the maturity not seem in many older drivers. This is one kid I am going to watch and support all the way!

NASCAR needs a lot to be back on top. One of the things it has needed is a strong tie to its roots. Today, those roots flourished with the great Wood Brothers and there sons back in winners circle. If you are a Ford or Mercury person these colors and that number are symbols to all of us of what are cars were built to do.

Hats off to Trevor and the Woods Brothers!

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys. 1. This was beyond a story-book finish.
What Trevor Bayne did is like a rookie hitting a grand slam homerun in his big league debut at Yankee Stadium, using one of Mickey Mantle’s bats.
Great day for another young gun, the Woods Brothers and NASCAR.
