Introducing the 1963 Studebaker Avanti

This SCREAMS the 60s

When these Avanti cars by Studebaker were first introduced in the 1963 model year I was blown away even as a youngster. I was always interested in cars but at that time I was also just starting to learn to drive and I soaked in everything I could about the new cars.

My family lived in the country on the main highway. For years I while I was outside playing in the summer I would occasionally hear the roar of an engine like nothing else. I would stop and go to the edge of the road and it would always be the same car, a 1957 Studebaker Golden Hawk, supercharged. I loved that sound.

Then, when the Avanti came out that driver traded in his Hawk and now roared by in his new supercharged steed! Not even a Corvette could stop me like the sound of that Avanti. I promised myself one someday but I have been through a lot of cars including several Hawks but still looking for that Avanti. This video is a little long but very interesting. Next we will give you a Road Test!

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys.
