Technology & Maritime Museum Malmo Sweden

My wife and I can both be considered diehard gearheads. Where ever we go, eventually we will discover a car related attraction which we have to investigate. Many of our trips are even built around car related activities or attractions. Recently we traveled to Sweden and I immediately began a search for a near by car museum. We spent most of our time on this trip in Malmo in SW Sweden just a short drive from Copenhagen Denmark.

Although I was unable to find a collector car museum close by I did find the Malmo Technology & Maritime Museum which had a large transportation element including a submarine! There were no muscle cars but the collection was interesting and the museum is well worth a visit if you ever find yourself in Malmo.

Gas pumps are a big collector item in the States and this one in Sweden would look good in my Man Cave.

I liked the rear end of this car. The way the top slants back and meets the rear of the car.

The V8 Fords were sold in large numbers in Sweden but used mostly as utility vehicles.

This 1964 Ford Fairlane can with an interesting display card. It read: "In the 1960s the rebellious youths of the time turned the car into a place of immorality, drunkenness and necking. Adults agonized, suffered and were horrified." I think it is interesting the museum chose to use an American car for this notation on 1960s society in Sweden!

If you are old enough you have most likely seen this very 1946 Ford like Volvo on the streets in the US.

Even though we did not find a muscle car museum we did spot this 1967 Dodge Coronet on the street in two different towns on the same day! We also spotted a 1982 Camaro and mid 80s Trans Am on the street.

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys. You can see more about that part of our lives at http://www.LegendaryFarms.com.
