45th Reunion for Aero Cars at Talladega Speedway CANCELED!

40th Reunion Party at the Wellborn Museum in 2009.

Hi everyone,

It is with great disappointment and sorrow that I have to tell you that the 45th Reunion at Talladega this October has been canceled. Just today I received word from Doug Schellinger (Daytona and Superbird Club) that Tim Wellborn is having some health concerns and is unable to continue with putting the event together. He is ok but has some issues that must be dealt with and the stress of putting the event on is something he does not need to be dealing with. Katrina and I have been looking forward to this event since we headed home from the 40th  Reunion. As disappointed as we all are I think you will all agree with us that Tim’s health is more important than any Reunion. As I understand it there may be some hope of doing the event at the Spring Talladega Race but no promises at this time.

If you have made your hotel reservations and don’t have tickets to the race please do not forget to cancel them.

We are continuing to think about what activity we should be planning for our “Talladega Family Reunion” for 2015. This is our Ford/Mercury only event and has nothing to do with the DSAC event at the Talladega Speedway. Please take a few minutes and go to our Forum and tell us what you would like to do next year. I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys. You can see more about that part of our lives at http://www.LegendaryFarms.com.
