Fun Ford Weekend / MoPar Thunder at Bristol

We like to help some of friends who work hard behind the scenes to put on the great regional and national shows we all like so well. 2014 is going to be an active year for the Ford bunch. First off we want to tell you about the very special Talladega Family Reunion that will be held at the Keeneland Concours d’Elegance in Lexington KY July 19th. This is one of the great gathering of top quality cars in the country. This is their 10th anniversary and they will have the each of the class winners for each class coming back for this year’s show. In addition they will have one of every model of Ford Aero cars on display. This display will include Ford Talladegas in each of the factory colors, Mercury Cyclone Spoiler IIs in both Cale Yarborough and Dan Gurney colors. There will even be a Special Talladega built for the President of Ford in 1969.

Another 45th Anniversary event you may want to take in is the Tim Lopata managed Fun Ford Weekend / MOPAR Thunder event at the Bristol dragway in Bristol TN. This year Tim is again putting on what could be another memorable event at Bristol. He is returning to run the Fun Ford Weekend / MOPAR Thunder event on August 29-30 2014. This two day event features the show and drag racing we expect at Bristol every year. This year they are also going to add a Mustang 50th gathering; a 45th Ford Talladega/Mercury Spoiler reunion and of course, I imagine some MOPAR guys will be celebrating their 45th Winged Dodge Daytona Anniversary as well.

It’s Bristol !!!! Barring rain, there will also be speedway track laps, drag racing, vendors, swap meet and more.

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys. You can see more about that part of our lives at http://www.LegendaryFarms.com.
