1969 “Project Barn Find AMX” For Sale

1969 AMC AMX

This great car has been sold and will be going to Florida. I hope to finish the driving impressions video before it leaves.

One of the most fun things to do is to go on a hunt for a new Project Car or any car for that matter. We recently completed a search we can’t tell you about right now but trust me when I say this has been the best one yet; another very rare Barn Find!

Unfortunately, one of least fun parts of the car hobby is having to part ways with a Car that you love and have invested may hours, dollars and sweat into. Such is our situation at the current time. We have exhausted our bank account and storage area so we must sell one of our fondest possessions.

I am listing here for your consideration a former Project Car from right here on this web site.

1969 AMC AMX with GoPack, 390, 4-speed, factory air, tilt wheel, PS, PB and factory AM/8-track.

This is a true Barn Find car with zero rust. I found the car in a barn in Alabama in 2010 where it had been placed in storage in 1982. When we pulled it out the top of the engine had been removed but it came with an extra engine and Factory speed parts. This AMX was originally a white/blue stripe 343 car. I wanted the car the way I would have ordered it in 1969 and since it came with a spare 390 that is what the car is today. The car was striped to bare metal, all suspension removed, interior removed and everything rebuilt or replaced. The car also came with Factory Group 19 Edelbrock intake, as well as the Group 19 heads and exhaust manifolds all of which are now on the car along with the factory Hurst shifter. The complete re-build of this car was documented on this web site as a Project Car.

Hundreds of photos are available for anyone who is serious about the car and digital copies will go with the car as well as the original 343 engine. I have several sets of tires and wheels for the car and the buyer can take his choice of one set or negotiate for as many as he wants.

This is not a 100 point Concours restoration. I built this car to be reasonably authentic but comfortable and practical to drive. It was built to be driven as its first priority. I even installed mufflers that have an electric flapper in them that allows the driver to go from muffled to wide open in an instant right from the driver’s seat all while driving down the road. The radio also includes an iPad/iPhone/MP3 player connection. The original space saver tire and inflator are in the trunk.

This is a knock out car and is only being sold because I fell in love with another project which demands that I make room in the garage as well as add some money to my wallet! I am happy to provide more photos, information and details to any interested serious buyer.

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys. You can see more about that part of our lives at http://www.LegendaryFarms.com.
