Mustang and AMX Project Update

We continue to make progress on our two active Project Cars. The first is the Gloriana 67 Mustang fastback and the second is the Barn Find AMX. We hope to have both on the street and at car shows yet this summer but with all the distractions and summer activities we may have difficulty getting the AMX complete.

First up is the Mustang. You will remember this from the Music Video for Gloriana. It was featured in “How far do you want to go?” The finished project will stay true to that video with it being a “fixer upper” in the style I might have done as a poor college student in the 70s.

Because the car has been sitting for nearly 15 years we decided it best to go through the brake system and replace and rebuild all components. New soft lines, new shoes and hardware, new master and converted over to a power brake system.

Calipers got a fresh coat of paint.

Power booster was added to the manual brake system.

New KYB shocks were added at all 4 corners.

Unfortunately we discovered a small area of rust as the result of a prior leaky heater core so a portion of the floor on the passengers side was replaced.

Still on the to do list is the new carpet, new dash cover and instrument cover, respray the seats to black, replace all the spark plugs, wires etc. and give the car a fresh tune up. Finally we will decide on a new set of tires and wheels.

Stay tuned for more. Next, is an update on the Barn Find AMX.

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys.
