Blackhawk Automobile Museum

My wife and I recently traveled to the Central California Bay area and could not pass up the opportunity to visit the Blackhawk Automobile Museum. Although it is much more than a car museum the Blackhawk Museum’s automotive exhibition of International Automotive Treasures™ presents and displays magnificent and historically significant automobiles as if they were fine jewelry. One has the impression that they are entering a gigantic jewelry store with precious jewelry surrounding you.

If you are looking for American Muscle Cars or Hot Rods this is not the place for you. If you are looking for an automotive experience like no other you have found it. This collection of the finest and rarest cars in the world is an artistic and historic presentation of new ideas in styling, engineering or performance from the early 20th Century. These motorized works of art were often created to satisfy famous celebrities’ individual taste. Many cars are one-of-a-kind “rolling sculptures” conceived by the world’s leading designers and crafted by the most respected coachbuilding artisans. The exhibition presents over 50 of these great cars as individual works of art or precious gems.

We will give you a summary overview of the collection today but will follow it up with more in depth coverage of many of the vehicles over the next few weeks.

This is the entrance to the Blackhawk Museum. We are used to approaching a car museum and seeing what might easily be an industrial warehouse but not so with the Blackhawk. It has much more the feel of a art museum or performing arts center.

The Museum is much more than just cars and is well worth the time and modest cost to enter but it is the cars you will remember.

As you enter the museum you are unsure what to do next. This view takes you breath away but also makes you want to run down the isles full speed to see everything as soon as possible.

I lied, there is a hot rod there but it looks so much like a master from the past it fits right in.

I was constantly saying to my wife that I have read about this car and always wanted to see it in person but never have, until now! I didn't this just once but over and over again.

Richard

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys. You can see more about that part of our lives at http://www.LegendaryFarms.com.
