Ford Talladega “Family Reunion”

News Release

The rarest of the rare will be having a Talladega Family Reunion in Kingsport Tennessee on October 1 and 2 at the Forge Invitational Muscle Car Show. The Ford Talladega is one of the rarest of the special built muscle cars for NASCAR Racing. In 1969 Ford only built approximately 750 versions of the race inspired, extended, sloped nose Talladega powered by a 428 CJ engine. The sister cars Mercury Cyclone Spoiler and Spoiler II will also be invited to attending this ONCE IN A LIFE TIME EVENT.

For the first time since 1969 the remaining Talladega Prototypes, Talladega Assembly line Pilot cars, production cars, a race car and the very first production Talladega will gather in one place for a Family reunion!

Every known Prototype and Pilot Talladega (Some have never been available to the public!!!) has been invited and several invitations have already been accepted. Making this event even more special is the attendance of the some of the people responsible for the development and building of these very special cars. Each will bring their own expertise, stories and rumors to the show for all to share.

Between now and the show we will be making regular announcements as to cars and individuals who have registered to attend this one time only event.

This show within the Forge Muscle Car Show will be one you will not want to miss. Again this is a once in lifetime opportunity to see some of these cars gathered in one place.  Some of these cars are restored, while others are in the process, and others in original condition.

In addition, a special invitation is going out to the owners of any Talladega to bring their cars to a special support outdoor event that will be held in conjunction with The Forge Show. For more information please contact: Jason Thompson. The Talladega Family Reunion is by invitation only. If you have one of the rarest of the rare Talladegas please contact Jason Thompson for a possible invitation.

If you helped build or had a hand in the production of the Talladega or the Mercury Cyclone Spoiler or Spoiler II or any of the race car versions please contact Jason Thompson about attending our reunion.

You are encouraged to pre-register your Talladega for the support show by contacting:

I grew up and lived in Iowa for a good portion of my life before moving to Southern California. After 20+ years we now live outside Nashville Tennessee. I have been into cars since I was old enough to remember. I don't have a brand loyalty although I do prefer American Muscle especially the 1969/1970 NASCAR Aero Cars. (Check out our other web site at www.TalladegaSpoilerRegistry.com site) As long as it has four wheels and an engine I get excited. Few men are lucky enough to be able to share their passion for cars with the woman they love. Fortunately, my wife, Katriana, is also a gear head and many of our activities revolve around the cars. We have a small collection that includes at least one car from each of the Big Three. It includes a Best of Show winner, a survivor, a driver with lots of patina and several others. Katrina prefers all original cars while I like to modify them so we have a few of each. When we aren't playing with cars we are out working with or showing our miniature donkeys. You can see more about that part of our lives at http://www.LegendaryFarms.com.

  1. Hi Rich,
I had to leave you a brief comment about your passion. Like you, I have it bad for all makes and models since I could remember. I’ve been a police officer here in NJ for 30 years and I’m certainly ready for a quieter life style. My wife and I have considered Tennessee as a place to retire!!! My passion goes as far as taking care our departments fleet of 40 cars. (mostly Fords). I’ve been very blessed to have raised 4 great boys(tears)one fighting for our country(Air Force). My love for cars is hard to explain, you know. I only have a couple but enjoy thm with all my heart. One is a 69 Ford arlane 428 SCJ Sportroof 4
