Brand Loyalty or Bigotry?

Is Brand Loyalty Important?
Are you a die hard Chevrolet person? Are you one of those people who bleed blue oval blood or would you rather push your MOPAR than drive either a Chevy or a Ford. I can appreciate these feelings but can’t quite understand them. Personally, I love cars; if its got 4 wheels I am interested. On the other hand I would not buy anything but GM for a long, long time. Now, I own Fords, Chevys, AMCs and looking for a good deal on a MOPAR. Katrina and I have friends that own all different kinds of cars and enjoy the camaraderie of all of them. However, I am not too fond of those people who are so prejudiced they can not stand a brand other than the one they drive. Don’t get me wrong, I have as much fun as anyone ribbing a friend about their choice in vehicles. However, it is all in fun.
I wonder if these car bigots realize that the cars they worship may have been designed by the same people as the ones they despise? Its true, doesn’t anyone realize that the automotive industry is like any other; you work for one, do a great job and the competition is likely to hire you away. You do a better job there and you move on up the ladder or off to another competitor. A good designer/engineer is a good designer/engineer where ever they work. Every manufacture has had its great cars as well as its lemons.
Competition makes everything better. What fun are races when there is no competition? More than one manufacturer has dropped out of racing because they so dominated and all of their competion pulled out.
Is it Brand Loyalty or Bigotry?
So what does this have to do with brand loyalty? Am I being overly defensive about brand loyalty? What’s the big deal? Loyalty is good as long as it doesn’t go too far. If you are one of the guys who goes beyond reasonableness in your dedication to YOUR favorite brand I want you to read our next Post. If the guy who designed your favorite car was so loyal to one brand what would we have missed? I will show you one great example!
