Rare Find: Indy 500 Lithograph

We all love to find lost treasures and sometimes they are a car in a barn and other times they are rare parts at a swap meet. I have just come across something many of you will find exciting while others couldn’t care less. One of my favorite drivers is 4 time Indianapolis 500 winner and all around good guy Rick Mears.
I have seen Rick race at Indy and met him on a couple of occasions and even have his autograph on a couple of treasures. I have been to both the Indy 500 on a number of outings as well as the Brickyard 400. I have even driven my car on the track there. I have a small collection of programs from Indy but what I have found will make a nice addition to anyone’s collection.
I have obtained a VERY RARE LIMITED FIRST EDITION LITHOGRAPH PRINT SIGNED BY RICK MEARSÂ for the 1992 Indianapolis 500.
This was the official commemorative print for the 76th Running of the Indy 500!
This is not a poster; it is a high quality Lithograph Offset Print and limited to only 300 copies. The print measures 23″x35″ and is autographed by the previous year’s Indy 500 race winner, Rick Mears. 1991 was the year he won his 4th and last Indy 500. Only 2 other drivers at the time had ever won the race 4 times and no one has ever won 5!

In 1992 Action Images  created a limited edition lithograph celebrating the 76th Running of the Indy 500 titled ” Wheels and Wings” with custom-made holographic lenses. The design features a collection of historic Indy 500 program covers and important memorabilia from the 500 Museum’s collection of race memorabilia. The edition run was limited to just 300 pieces and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. I am unsure what these sold for at the time but I have been told by one collector that in 1992 the lithograph traded at between $600.00 to $750.00.
